W.M. Keck Center for Collaborative Neuroscience
Designed in collaboration with Gertler and Wente Architects, now Mancini Duffy Architects, the Keck Neuroscience Center is designed as a center for collaborative educational research.
The facility is a nexus for over 60 laboratories worldwide, and is handicapped accessible for disabled users. The facilities include protein and tissue analysis, three-dimensional immuno- histology and axon tracing, a confocal microscope, an animal surgery and treatment space. The Keck Center is one of the leading centers for spinal cord research in the world where researchers work face-to-face, stimulating discussion at each of the custom-designed and fabricated, exhausted lab islands. The Center’s layout helps facilitate interaction and collaboration between doctors, technicians, spinal injury patients and the public and this interaction crosses departmental, university, state, and national boundaries. The center’s communication systems are state-of-the-art, and include a conference facility audio and visual interactive technology.
